Empowering Women: South Asian Women and Girls Certificate

Certificate Overview

This Certificate offers students an opportunity to obtain a completely online certification for Empowering Women focusing on South Asian women and girls, a population that is underserved and high-need. The certificate is open to students across disciplines, including Social Work, Theology, Business Management, Nursing, Law, Education, and Women and Gender Studies, plus it is accessible to both Undergraduate and Graduate students as well as to professionals. The Certificate will prepare students to work with women from South Asia. This population needs trained professionals who are aware of the intersections of poverty, gender, politics, and culture and have a global sensibility but are sensitive to local realities.

The program is unique as there is no other institute in the USA right now that offers structured curriculum with this area of expertise. The content of this certificate will enable training within the core Jesuit identity of Loyola University Chicago to empower and advocate for marginalized people globally and locally. The certificate includes an optional three country immersion trip - as part of the Curriculum.
